Trainer Clarry Conners has plans to run yesterday’s dominant Kembla Grange 1500 metre Class One winner Legal Girl (Star Witness) in the VRC Oaks (Gr 1, 2500m), but first intends to start her in the Flight Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) on 30 September.
The three-year-old filly was runner-up to Acqume (Sepoy) first up at Warwick Farm on 6 September and won yesterday’s race by three and a quarter lengths as the $2.50 favourite.
“She is my favourite filly, and not because she won today, but I do have a very high opinion of her,” Conners told SkyThoroughbred Central post-race.
“For her to perform like that, I was very happy. I have always told the owners she is a deadset
stayer and I have aspirations of winning an Oaks with her.”
Legal Girl was purchased from the Magic Millions Yearling Sale for $140,000 from the draft of Segenhoe Stud.
