After a strong day on Wednesday, we were back in the thick of things on day two, securing a further 10 yearlings.
It didn’t take long, with the first lot through the ring, the Element Hill consigned Lot 217 (pedigree), a colt by Arrowfield Stud’s Manhattan Rain out of the winning full-sister to Group 1 Champagne Stakes winner Meurice knocked down to Gai Waterhouse and Julian Blaxland.
From an outstanding black-type family – it was great to secure the well-related colt, whose two foals to race so far are both winners.
Next up it was Lot 282 (pedigree) from the draft of Newhaven Park that was secured for a client of Blue Sky Bloodstock.
The fourth yearling by Snitzel purchased, this filly (pictured) is out of the Listed-winning, Group 1 fourth placed Hairpin.
The dam of three foals to race, all winners highlighted by the Group 3 winner Detours, this filly is out of an Octagonal mare, who as a broodmare sire has produced 28 individual stakes winners.
Four lots later, it was Element Hill’s Redoute’s Choice filly that we had our sights on.
Catalogued as Lot 286 (pedigree), the imposing filly is out of the Group 2 placed Anabaa mare Hanky Panky who is already the dam of the stakes winners Come Hither and Fun In Flight, and comes from the family of numerous stakes winners including Snippets, Zizou and Not A Single Doubt.
Turangga Farm’s Lot 302 (pedigree), a More Than Ready half-sister to Gai’s Group 2 Tulloch Stakes winner Fast Clip was next on the list.
Out of the Honour And Glory mare Hint Of Glory, the pedigree of this filly includes Group 1 winner Sky Cuddle as well as fellow stakes winners Highly Recommended, Sky Love, Hint and Undeniably.
Back to Corumbene Stud’s draft and it was Lot 323 (pedigree), a Stratum colt (pictured) out of a daughter of the Group 1 VRC Oaks and Group 1 Thousand Guineas winner Arborea.
Purchased on behalf of a client, Segenhoe Stud’s Lot 360 (pedigree) is Star Witness filly, the second foal of the Listed Tasmania Oaks winner La Fantastique.
Rosemont Stud presented a quality draft at the sale and we were fortunate enough to purchased Lot 370 (pedigree), a colt from the second Australian crop of Starspangledbanner, out of Lady’s Light.
A half-brother to Alboran Sea, a triple Group 1 winner and Champion South African 3YO Filly, this colt ticks a lot of boxes and should be an early runner!
With an extremely good draft this year, we were back at Corumbene Stud to secure our third yearling from breeder George Altomonte's draft.
The flashy looking Lot 386 (pedigree) is a Stratum filly out of the Secret Savings mare Longlea, from the family of Dothraki.
Impressed by the quality of Newhaven Park’s first crop sire Delago Deluxe, we purchased Lot 388 (pedigree), our second yearling by the stallion. The bay colt is the first foal of the Exceed And Excel mare Lounge, a daughter of Group 1 winner Allow.
Our final lot of day two of the sale was Attunga Stud’s Lot 402 (pedigree), a colt by one of Gai’s favourite in Pierro.
Out of a Gone West three-quarter-sister to Group 1 winner and successful sire Grand Slam, the colt (pictured) is the second foal of the American bred Mae Gone West.
